And the rabbit hole forms.

And then this video leads me to supercritical Co2.

a couple of keywords like rare earth processing and the next thing you know we are on to a chain of crazy technological questions that few people ask. Wait a second here. I seem to recall I've been told Co2 is bad?

Now I'm really confused!

Wait a moment. Did you just say you had to have your battery replaced after eight years? Out of curiosity why. And just where is that old one going? I'm assuming a landfill.
I heard they were recycling the batteries and putting the A holes in the landfills

Construction overview taken the 1st week in August. Infrastructure work in full swing with access roads, etc. Buses in parking lot so looks like they bus workers to site. Could not see work inside buildings but saw a roofing contractor. Impressive site!

The battery died, went bad, quit working, OOC, etc. within a four week period the range dropped to 15 miles, had to have it towed to the dealership. These batteries can fail by loosing capacity slowly over time, or having a catastrophic failure, I experienced the catastrophic type of failure.

I have no idea what Ford did with the removed battery, but I assume they had it reworked.

Most of these batteries go bad because a number of cells quit working, so the bad batteries are reworked, replacing the bad cells and put back into use. Fords first repair quote was $24K (under warrantee), 4 months later after not having a vehicle the cost dropped to $14K. During the wait to get the battery the dealership had 4 other EV's awaiting batteries.

This is a bit of a concern on the long term sales model of EV's in general.
I'm not in a position to purchase any vehicle as a second car so it would become my primary transportation. E.g. it will be driven daily and a lot of miles per year, hence the harvester for me. Having a vehicle die is not in the cards for me. My Honda Passport was 9 years old with 140K miles on it when we traded it in and got almost 40% of the original sales price back towards the new Toyota Grand Highlander we bought. That car became my wife's car and was mostly local miles in the last 6 years.
I've read online that EV's struggle with resale values. I hope Scout will provide a bit more information about their battery technology before this baby launches. Fingers crossed they're doing the research to ensure whatever battery tech gets rolled into these is not so unreliable. From the outside looking in on this idea of recycling it appears all is not being revealed so I question the sincerity of this argument for EVs in general.

It seems that Scout has gone silent lately, no update on the production facility and nothing new has been posted in any news channels.

I'm pretty certain the down turn in EV sales and the elimination of EV credits is being closely monitored by Scout, not to mention various state governments fighting the direct to customer sales model first envisioned. Even VW's own dealership network is fighting to preclude direct to customer sales.
I just wish they would share something with us regarding the possible start of production. My current EV is 8+ years old and although it just received a new EV Battery under warrantee, I'm hoping to replace it in the next few years. I've looked at a few PHEV leases to fill the gap while awaiting the Scout production to start, but not sure if I should be planning on a two, three, or four year wait- it would be helpful to have an update from Scout.
Not being a fear monger, but this is how it started with Canoo, they would drop off all media until they ran out of money and had to surface to beg for funding.

Apologies to all the optimistic Scout reservations holders, just bit low on trust with the Cyber truck bait and Switch, and Canoo and Atlas going in the hole.

Hard to keep the faith. But waiting like everyone else!

I actually loved that design. So modular and the adaptive non linear steering was super cool. I had a bit of trouble getting my money back from that company. Have a look for yourself and try to find a source for customer relations on the deposits. It's not easily found. They are folding

Enjoy it with your grandkids pass the Paton with a smile and be grateful you got to sit in it and have that conversation between two people who love each other it's priceless !!! I hope many get to enjoy it.

I have Enphase as my Solar and Battery solution for my house. I'm looking into adding their EV Home Charger as well. They have great products.

My goal is to add a battery with a small array of panels wired to a sub panel independent of main panel and grid. I will have 6 circuits. HVAC , EV charger with v2 capacity, garage refrigerator ice maker tv, outdoor lighting. 21 k I own it no grid to worry about much smaller electric bills
