Pending a miracle with the Harvester Tech e.g VERY low maintenance and close to zero noise, I'm going the safe, sane, less complicated route of BEV. 350 miles of range is all most people with reasonable planning skills need.

I am going EV only. I already have a Tesla Model 3 so I'm used to the EV experience. The 350 mile range should be plenty for me. I don't want the additional maintenance of the Harvester, especially as for most day to day driving I'd never even need it. I'm also comfortable with the charging options even on long road trips I've taken and know that I'd be stopping for rest breaks which I'll use as charging stops anyways.

I am only going full EV...for now. I had a Wrangler 4xe. I was hoping for more electric range out of it for my daily commutes. However when I lived in CO, because of the cold weather, the car would stay stuck in FORM mode (Fuel Oil Remix Mode). So engine would keep running and not go into EV mode. The engine would never get hot enough. I know this is a little different with a small gas motor to charge vs operate the drivetrain however still hesitant due to my past experience.
This reminds me of the early days of Toyota & Lexus hybrids that had an “Electric Mode” button that you could push, purportedly to tend the car towards using the electric motor over the ICE. In reality, once you got over about 5 MPH, or encountered more than a 0.005% upgrade, the ICE would kick in. But, they could truthfully state that “there’s Electric Mode…”.

This. I have a mache GT and rarely need to hit level 3 chargers. Combine it with the fact it will have NACS and 800v no reason. Also the gas one according to elecktrek is only 150 miles ev.....No thanks.

Hoping they do the heat pump from the start too
800v won't help you at Superchargers.

V4 it will. Also still will max out the current supercharger speed on v3 and 2. Also charging infrastructure has grown and non super.

Only reason to go harvester in my mind is because I plan to tow. When I do tow it's so small of a distance it's not an issue

I have no desire to have gas engine maintenance in my life again

THANKS for opening this thread. Went full EV on initial order. Plan to keep my ICE rides in addition to the Scout. I was interested in Scout as soon as the initial stories started to come out. I want the reduced driving cost/ maintenance benefits of EV and a vehicle that is new and unique. IF the Harvester turns out to be a revolutionary design with a significant up side I would consider it BUT not a priority for me as of now. The option to avoid the dealer purchase process is a definite plus. As mentioned in other threads the remote service may have its limitations but we’ll have to wait and see. Just want to get to the order phase so final decisions can be made. Fingers crossed.

Started with the harvester model but switched to full electric because it is less complicated and less maintenance. Also learning that the electric range is reduced with the harvester model.

I definitely prefer the full ev (currently one of each designated). If Keough pushes BEV production back a year, I may grab the Harvester in any case. (It depends if they actually deliver 150 miles of AER and LFP batteries! The lifespan of NMC batteries in PHEVs with short range AER is not acceptable to me!)

I really do like full EVs, love my R1T, but its brutal to do long road trips due to all the time spent charging and other shenanigans related to finding fast chargers, broken chargers, wait times, etc.

As soon as I saw the battery range on the Harvester, it confirmed I’ll be ordering EV only. I’m used to the EV experience and I’ll just catch a ride in my buddy’s truck for the extended backroad fish/camp trips I do in Western Canada. Fuck gas.

I reserved Terra with Harvester but anticipate going EV only, with 80 percent of the orders with Harvester I suppose my reservation may hedge the bet if they produce those first and I have to have one earlier. Tow a small boat local and 350 range would be plenty, since the Harvester does not add to HP and performance I’d be good without…

2025 F-150 Lightning Flash, 2025 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
So back in the summer, I leased a new 2025 F-150 Lightning Flash. It has the medium range battery pack at 123 kWh usable. Advertised range 300 miles.

Over the last several months I have learned some things about these BEV pickup trucks.

- In cold weather, I've already lost 30% of my range and it's not even winter yet. We'll fall another 50 degrees over the next two months. I may end up at 40% loss of range during winter.

- When towing my camper, I lose 75% of my range. That's not a typo. In PERFECT weather conditions back in September, I did a test run with my camper (4,700 lbs.) and saw 0.7 mi/kWh which by the hand math worked out to a 75% decrease in range compared to what I was seeing running unloaded to and from work all week.

- The climate control system sucks. Ford did add a heat pump to the system after 2024 to try and help keep the cabin comfy and free of moisture but I find that it still sucks. Windows fog all the time. Takes a good drive down the road to start getting any heat. And again, it's not even truly winter yet.

- Camping trips have become such a chore due to lack of level 3 charging and the logistics of getting a truck and trailer physically close enough to a charger that the wife and I have just not been going on any trips. The lack of towing range and poor logistics of charging on the go have made a once fun activity no fun. To rectify this situation, last week I brought home a new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with the new 5,000 lb. tow rating. I will use it for long trips, especially when going camping or boating.

For these reasons, I almost certainly will never buy or lease another BEV pickup truck. For local trips and commutes to work this truck is amazing. But its drawbacks on longer trips really show, and it simply doesn't get the job done. From now on, I will get EREV or ICE trucks/SUVs only.
