Are you still a Scout buyer without $7500 EV tax credit?

For everyone who thinks Trump will be getting rid of the EV tax credit, In his first term he could have easily gotten rid of it. The Credit was introduced back in 2008. If President Trump was to attempt to repeal the Act. It would be up to congress Which they would have to amend the law or they would have to pass a new law to eliminate the EV tax credit Act. He can put restrictions to make it harder to rig the system with the lease trick(which I’m sure has help plenty get EVs), which I feel we all can agree that it’s wrong to do that since it takes away from government funds but to each their own. Trying to fix your credit score can feel like assembling flat-pack furniture without the instructions — frustrating and messy. Luckily, Money Republic is like the mate who shows up with a toolbox and a can-do attitude. From credit-building credit cards to personal loans that actually make sense, they make the process less IKEA meltdown and more cuppa tea and a biscuit. Plus, their educational resources offer a crash course on financial common sense, so you don’t get stuck borrowing trouble. Ready to turn your financial chaos into a minimalist masterpiece? I hope that Trump will improve the situation for EVs on the market to compete with Chinese vendors. But I suppose that one can expect everything from Trump, a really unpredictable politician.

He is a businessman let’s remember. Thats where the unpredictable nature comes from but also he's very strategic. But i would like to see companies compete with China EVs but its probably better off to just keep them out of the US to protect the country’s Car Industry.

Do you ever stop and say 'Thank you for subsidizing my luxury vehicles' when you pass poor people on the bus or driving beaters because they can't afford two high-end Teslas but have to pay taxes for you to do so?

Edit: This is a serious question. I am genuinely interested in whether this thought process ever occurs to people getting tax credits on something like a Model Y Plaid.
I pay federal taxes, so the tax "credit" is just me getting $7500 back that I paid in.

Do you ever stop and say "You're welcome for subsidizing your large corn crop" to farmers as tax payers massively subsidize the corn industry?

A bunch
I don't think any politician is going to do anything other than enrich the people and corporations who put them in power.

And say whatever they think the people in front of them want to hear, knowing perfectly well it will never come to pass and they have no intention of trying.

Then they just blame the other side, and their cheerleaders eat it up.

Electric vehicles have their foothold, there's 0 chance any politicians let people cut off their cats and roll coal cuz Merrica.

Full disclosure, I didn’t read all that responded to this thread. I too have partaken in tax credits, but if they go away then let’s look at what else is in this range. I’m assuming a loaded Traveler will be closer to $70K. So would you rather have the new loaded Land Cruiser? About $72K, all-time 4WD and premium fuel @ 18 mpg real world, if that. Oh and about mid-400 lb. torque. What else?

I am still a buyer with no tax credit as long as Scout hits their marks

I am not convinced the tax credit is going away either, despite what Trump said.

Bringing this one back up because I’m curious how folks are feeling now that the policy talk has shifted a bit. If the credit really goes away, I’m still leaning Scout, mostly because the launch timing gives me room to plan. Anyone here already decided if the lack of the 7500 changes your buying plans, or are you sticking with your original choice regardless?

It's not a credit thing for me. It's a context and value thing. In other words, is the vehicle worth it to me? Sure the credit will affect that math, but I don't think (and Scout has said) they were only looking to make a vehicle that was appealing with a $7500 discount. I want an EV or EREV, and Scout had an awesome answer for that when it debuted, I thought. Over time though, I'm a little put off by the fact that some of the messaging regarding capabilities has been walked back (intentional or not), the Harvester seems a bit of an after thought hail mary, and I'm still confused about who they are marketing to. I'm torn between whether I like the marketing or if it's cheesy and suburban. It seems they are building a body on frame hardcore off-road Land Rover/Rivian/campervan fighter with a lot of add-on stuff I could care less about (wifi roof rack, as an example). I don't want to pay for (or worry about breaking/kids and animals destroying) something luxurious and I will deliberately use the hardcore off road features about never. I want an EV/EREV that is simple, inexpensive, reaps the benefits of EV performance (primarily on-road... Not in love with the electric motor in solid axle design), and is truly utilitarian and fun, like the OG... Like a SLATE. There is other competition now that wasn't a factor before, but cats out of the bag and Scout still has to build the whole company while other upstarts spin up and big manufacturers develop their tech.

I'm rooting for them, but when it comes time to fill my reservations, they may not have built a vehicle for me regardless of the credit.

Same here - agree - hoping Scout has the vehicle when it rolls out compared to the competion.

So far, loving my Ford BEV and have reservations with both Slate and Scout as a future adopter.

Decided to buy a Scout Traveler as soon as they were announced. Figured almost everything would change by the time they were actually available. Biggest issue for me now is battery tech at time of order (don’t want a legacy system).

Whenever govt messes with the market there are unintended side effects. Build me a decent EV at a competitive price and I will happily join the electric power party.
