Nope. The numbers don't add up. With the size and shape of these and the tire options, they need to be in the 180kwh range for 350 miles. Unless they are magically efficient, that's a concerning number.

Rivians already offer this and are only going to be even more efficient in the next 2-3 years as battery tech gets better.

Sounds like you already have the BEV you want/need. A properly controlled quad-motor is going to have better traction in more circumstances than any 2-motor / locker setup, especially off-road for anything except maybe extreme rock climbing. Any locker/LSD is more of a compromise.

Yes, my R1S was what I wanted when I preordered it in 3/21 but if Scout can actually deliver what they've promoted, then they will address 99% of what I hate about my R1S.

As far as rock climbing, a Gen 1 quad motor Rivian R1T did better than most ICEV with locker/LSD at Hell's Gate in Moab.

BEV isn't going to get 350 mile range with a 120-130 kWh battery.

Yeah I’d been wondering about this too. Doesn’t track with lockers, 12” clearance (turbulence), 35s, and a much draggier undercarriage.

Plus, why go with different chemistry on the EREV battery? Seems like that would complicate supply chain more than just using the same chemistry but fewer cells. Edit: saw the post above talking about useable range and charging margins. I guess that makes sense.

If anyone here knows much about battery chemistries and costs I’d love them to chime in.

Personally, I feel like 4.5 seconds is extremely quick for a large truck like this. It's way faster than people need to be driving on public roads. Most drivers lack the skill to handle a vehicle with that speed. Just look at all the videos of the chuckleheads leaving cars and coffee meets.

3 seconds is sports car territory. Vehicles actually built for this speed, that people typically aren't driving as everyday commuter vehicles.

0-60 times to me aren’t a big factor. Especially since battery formulas are changing every year with new advancements.

It does seem like since he said the fuel tank and harvester will be upgradable. To me at least it would only make sense to make the EREV battery upgradable by ordering a new battery and installing at a Scout Service center.

150 battery will cover my daily commute… gas for the occasional road trip and off-road park is perfect. I just hope we don’t end up like a Chevy Blazer… with too much attention on the wrong things.

Seems like the membership is sharply divided on the whole 0-60 thing. As someone who currently drives a 7.5 second Jeep Wrangler, I’d be perfectly happy with a 5.5 second Traveler Harvester. Perfectly. Especially if it meant I got more range out of the battery.

The 0-60 was initially a bummer for me but then I considered how fast 4.5 seconds will feel in an offroad suspension vehicle and it's probably going to be fine.

So probably FLP for the battery in the Harvester model...probably not solid state in either.

I listened to this podcast and WOW does Scott know how to speak and drive all the points in why he believes Scout will succeed. Yeah I still have some reservations on 150 initial EREV mileage but nothing's 100% yet as tech will keep changing up until they start manufacturing. Impressive interview, I'm pulling for Scout!
