It seems that Scout has gone silent lately, no update on the production facility and nothing new has been posted in any news channels.

I'm pretty certain the down turn in EV sales and the elimination of EV credits is being closely monitored by Scout, not to mention various state governments fighting the direct to customer sales model first envisioned. Even VW's own dealership network is fighting to preclude direct to customer sales.
I just wish they would share something with us regarding the possible start of production. My current EV is 8+ years old and although it just received a new EV Battery under warrantee, I'm hoping to replace it in the next few years. I've looked at a few PHEV leases to fill the gap while awaiting the Scout production to start, but not sure if I should be planning on a two, three, or four year wait- it would be helpful to have an update from Scout.

Scout Motors posts a factory construction update every month with photos. It's on their official blog. https://blog.scoutmotors.com/july-2025-scout-motors-production-center-update/

I noticed the Radio Silence. The “official “ site has also been quiet. Last construction update was June 5th. I guess we are in the phase of design/ramp up where the details are being hammered out and there are not a lot of exciting details to announce. Last official reports were that the factory building is almost fully enclosed and paint shop equipment installation was starting.

I did see Scout had petitioned the US Department of Justice to investigate state dealer franchise laws as a barrier to competition.

I think last we heard production start is expected late-2027 for MY28?

I may need to plus-up the family fleet in spring 2027, then our next window is fall 2028 - probably MY29. Just the way it rolls (no pun) with all-new brand-factory-vehicles.

Wait a moment. Did you just say you had to have your battery replaced after eight years? Out of curiosity why. And just where is that old one going? I'm assuming a landfill.

We all surly hope that this Slate EV is able to survive out the gate.

Amazon tried to get into another market (Fire Phone) years ago and failed with no public support.

History shows that Amazon doesn’t keep dumping money if it’s not a true money maker.

But they are good at one thing, raising my Prime membership price annually!

Slate is not an Amazon product. Bezos is an investor through his separate investment firm. Prime keeps going up in price because of live sports and purchasing MGM.

Speaking of Slate... I just saw a Slate being test driven in Troy MI yesterday on 16 mile by Rochester road. it was flat black and had a manufacturers plate on it.

the old one will probably be recycled and will recover valuable materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel for reuse in new batteries. There are few different companies that do this.

As for the why, most likely the battery degradation is under 70% or so. but who knows

Scout is probably heads down trying to get ready for 2027 production but like every other manufacturer I'm sure they are trying to figure out supply chain and costs - which is even harder for a new manufacturer. Lets see if they can pull this off.
Rivian had similar headwinds with Covid when they launched. It may be a similar path for Scout. Difficult but not impossible.

Ahh I found this on YT.

still a bit worried about that 8 year life span issue. Will these Scouts have a warranty period that is beyond the this? Or will it be right on the threshold of falling in or out of the warranty based on the individual user who might not be thinking they need to bring the truck in for inspection before it exceeds the period? It's probably my number one concern for anything EV.

Hell no, valuable ingredients in these batteries, check out a YouTube or two.

It would be nice to see some small things like an Option list, fix the website, and of course some actual technical specifications would be awesome. I understand being busy but they dont go into a billion dollar venture without a plan so some of this information has been figured out to the point where they could release it. Fishing doesnt work unless you use good bait.

here's a YT video about that recovery process.

Now explain how this is going to make money and be environmentally friendly? Am I missing something or do I need to drink some different Kool-aid? What's your recommendation?
