35 on 18 has more sidewall than the 33 on 17 that comes on a Jeep Rubicon.

According to a Scout employee, the smallest wheel that fits currently is an 18" wheel. I assume "currently" means unless/until they re-engineer for the production 2027 Scout.

How many would prefer an even smaller size than that (like a 17" wheel) for more meat? Or are most of you going 18" or bigger?

I want 17" wheels. 20" wheels are a NO GO for me. Really don't want 18" either.

It would be nice if we could put 37" tires without modifications.

Dang, I was hoping for 17’s.

While it’s not a total deal breaker for me, I’ll definitely be going with 18’s over the 20’s.

Prefer 17” but 18”s will do. Here’s 295/70r18 Cooper STT Pro aired down to 11psi. It works.

I see no bead locks. Do you have much trouble breaking the bead?

Definitely want 17s. Will be running studs in winter when roads are gnarly up here and need lots of sidewall to absorb grader blade chatter in the hard pack. Small bump compliance is all about the sidewall. Nearly impossible to find pre-pinned tires for 35 or 37/xxR18s. My HD truck weighs more than an EV and has a GCWR north of 20k on 17s; with regenerative braking 17s should be fine unless the engineers are just using whatever's handy in the Euro parts bin. Don't take my word for it, talk to the guys at Carli suspension. 17s make a huge difference unless you can run 37+, and they're familiar with the Bronco and it's flaws as well. Would be smart to let them give their two cents on the pre-production vehicles before anything gets locked in if you're serious about offroading.

Another reason to allow 17" rims is that the Nokian LT3 is the only 35 inch dedicated winter tire on the market. It is also the biggest (apart from their Arctic Truck 44" special). And this 35" tire is only available for 17 inch rims (LT315/70 R 17).

If 18s are the smallest rims, that means we will have to use 33 inch winter tires, which would look borderline pathetic on such a large vehicle. Especially if one uses 37 inches during the rest of the year.

My dream would be that Scout made Nokian (or another company) produce 37 inch dedicated winter tires. Looks matter – it is the main reason most people will buy these Scouts in the first place.

The BFGoodrich KO3 tires are decent in winter, but far from a dedicated winter tire in snowy/icy conditions. The KO3 will seem fine until you have to make a quick evasive maneuver or brake quickly to avoid hitting someone.
