As of now, there is either EV only version or EV powered with a gas generator (harvester) option. No gas only options.

Yeah, I know that, but maybe they could create new versions and stuff, for example a <4.0L V6 or maybe V8, and it could come in different performance and displacements, and maybe a high performance option with maybe 600-750 hp. I doubt they'll do all this, but maybe there is a small chance???

Do you really want something as complicated as a gas engine without full dealer support. I know no local mechanics that will touch my VW as it is.

It would be nice if one of the the VW brands serviced Scout, but they also want to sell them. That's where the problem arises. The dealers want all or nothing. They don't want direct to consumer sales.

IF a dealer is not involved in the transaction where will I get the magic sprays applied to the interior and windshield etc that I MUST have ???

RE powertrains: love my ICE diesels and V8’s but putting full gas into the new Scout would be a little like resto-modding a new performance car with a authentic late 60’s performance engine (Dual points/condenser distributor etc). Won’t fully understand analogy unless you have worked on one. Acceleration of electric powertrains in insane, routine maintenance is minimal and batteries are improving by the month (in some parts of the world anyway?!). Looking forward to Scout being my jumping off into full EV. Here’s hoping we get there.
