I just hope the Harvester isnt a $10k option.

Mid sized LFPs and small engines are pretty cheap for companies like VW. It shouldnt cost them too much more than the large NMC on the BEV models.

If they ask too much for it I will probably need to bow out.

I am budgeting for $85k but want all the offroad features and accessories with the Harvester.

Some buy the snake oil and some realize it's not the solution. South Carolina just lost a battery plant for EV's company stopped construction because of his brilliant policies. Trump is not an advocate for Scout or EV adoption and now that he's feuding with his boy Elon he most likely will be even less inclined

Scout was going to source batteries from their plant in Canada anyways so I dont see how that impacts Scout.

The company building that factory in SC was from Japan so it makes sense for them to pause the project until the on again/off again trade policies stabilize.

Agree that the current administration is enacting regressive policies though.

Listen Hyundai built a factory in Georgia to qualify for tax credit but does it make sense to penalize investment and Japan owns a lot of our debt if I were them I stick my middle finger right back at ya but a lot of things don't make sense to me how is local and federal government helping Scout succeed ?? By disallowing DTC buy repealing tax incentives but increasing foreign aid that confuses me

The point is keeping that fossil fuel industry campaign money flowing. Its never been about whats best for our citizens.

I expect the Harvester to be about the same price as the full EV version, if not even slightly cheaper, because the cost of adding the gas engine should be offset by using a much smaller battery. Big batteries are expensive, and also the harvester version will use an LFP battery which are cheaper.

We all know these things are going to be $70k or higher out the door. The payments are going to rival mortgages.

I think the bigger question right now is: How will this sales model work? They're claiming direct-to-consumer is how they are going to approach sales. So will that mean that the consumer has to secure his/her own financing or will Scout do it? Will Scout offer leasing? Will Scout be able to take trade-in vehicles and apply the numbers to the new deal? How will they handle unique financial situations?

If you think about a Ford Bronco or a Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator they've both got huge dealership networks. There's almost a dealership in every town in America. And those dealers all have finance professionals and great relationships with LOCAL banks which allows them to sell/lease products to a wide range of people and situations.

I just don't know that it's going to be as easy to get a Scout vehicle.

We won't even talk about maintenance and service and how those brick and mortar facilities will be hundreds of miles apart....and since this is not only a brand new vehicle but also a brand new company from the ground up, there WILL be lots of bugs and issues with these vehicles when they arrive on U.S. roads.

Hopefully Scout will share SPECIFIC details about their sales model plan soon.

FWIW, our last six (!) car purchases have been direct to consumer (Tesla & RIvian). We are so glad to be out of the stealership model and would never go back. The financing and trade-ins have been super-easy. Trade-ins all done via app like carmax and while we do not do financing, it has been super-straightforward. I am sure Scout will figure this out. Maintenance OTOH... mixed bag.

I am assuming $70k+ also. I am betting leases will be available to help move vehicles. RE financing I typically get cheaper rates from my local credit Unions vs banks/dealers. Vehicle trade in could be a problem BUT rarely have I gotten a fair trade in value from a dealer.

Dealers assume the “sales tax savings” from your trade in are part of their profit on the deal. IF direct to consumer purchases are offered I will use it and deal with my old vehicle (would rather give a friend/family member a good deal vs giving my vehicle away to a dealer).

There will be some issues with a new start up. Hoping the reduced mechanical complexity of a BEV will mitigate some of the risk. There has been a lot of discussion of DIY repairs on the Scouts. Just read an article RE servicing the new Dodge Charger BEV (stay voltage checks prior to beginning work/de-energizing protocols/clearing numerous fault codes following re-energizing. Not really a DIY unit beyond tires and maybe mechanical suspension components (good luck DIY repairing an air suspension).

Would be nice to start getting some details on business side while the engineering is ongoing.
