New Video: More Touchscreen Display Infotainment (UX / UI) Demo & Interviews with Scout VP & Exec

ease up folks... this is pre-production and "demo" version of their software. that isn't really an indication of the responsiveness of the production version. we also have no idea of the hardware/architecture being used to power the demo. could be very different in production.

Stereo / Audio System Brand - Poll

B&W, Mark Levinson, Meridian - in that order. For those that say name don't matter, it does, if you want the highest quality sound. And if they go in-house, it matters even more. Go read any Rivian thread on their in-house system and you'll see what a disaster its been. Sound, like seats...

How close must a Scout Service Center location be to you? Poll

Folks should keep in mind, just because you're willing to drive hours to get service, doesn't mean Scout will sell you a vehicle (at first) unless you're within some minimum distance. It becomes costly and logistically complex for Scout to support owners who are 4+ hours from a service center...

Adapting to the Future Tech Before Production

Yes but there are limitations. At some point they will need to lock down the design because they need to secure the supply chain for all the parts and the production process. There might be room for some minor changes and it'll likely be different from what they showed ad reveal/CES but thats...

Scout Driver Assistance will be camera based system (no Radar or LIDAR)

Camera-only based systems, like Tesla can work well but if certain conditions change, then you're increasing the chances of the system failing. Fog, rain, shadows, bright lights, etc can hinder the system working correctly because it doesn't have another system like radar or lidar, which work...

Harvestor Engine will run while parked (in Camp Mode)

The Director of UX at Scout indicated you can enable Harvestor while in "Outdoor" (camp) mode. If that does make production, then I'm almost 100% sold on getting the Traveler with that option when its becomes available.

Trump to End EV mandate today(1/20/25) *** ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS TALK, ONLY POLICY ***

I think time will determine how this plays out and impacts companies like Scout, Rivian, Lucid as well as GM and Ford. Scout is still at least 2.5 years away from production so that gives them time to see the landscape. Overall, I'm concerned about the BEV market in the US and how we'll be able...

Start of production coming late 2027 for Scout vehicles (update by Scout 1/20/25)

oh boy... its looking like it might not be ready to produce till 2028. When have manufacturers, especially new ones hit production early or even on time? Fingers crossed though they hit late 2027.

Scout Traveler & Terra: More Info & Closer Looks Published

Oh yeah, the vehicles as shown at reveal are going to be way more than the base $60k price. I'd imagine somewhere in the ~$85-90k range. If they can hit ~$75k with full specs I'll be incredibly impressed.

EREV battery capacity deploying 6x faster than BEVs. Implications for Harvester?

150 miles on battery only seems like sweet spot for daily driving for most people, though thats impacted by the battery chemistry. if its LFP then you'll be able to charge it fully to 100% daily without much worry about battery degradation. if its NMC, then ideally you want to keep the state...

Terra backrest and headrest too low / short?

Yeah, noticed that as well. Hopefully for production models they increase the height because it is too low.

    Tank turn!

Rivians never released the tank turn feature. Said it was not environmentally friendly. Not sure a vehicle can do it without 4 motors, one at each wheel. I suppose its possible with the use friction brakes, maybe lock the opposite corner wheels and have the other corner wheels spin in...

Make the spare tire on the back of the Traveler optional.

Don;t worry, it is likely going to be optional. The prototype they showed is the "maxed" out version.

Will the range extender charge when the Scout is not running?

Not sure what’s legal or not wrt leaving a car running unattended. But I’ve also been wondering this but my use cases are if you’re camping and overlanding or maybe a power outage at home. Will it charge while vehicle is parked?

Production question... Harvester vs. Terra priority / order?

Right now reservations are based on very limited specs and pricing. As they get closer to production candidate, we'll have a better idea of those two things and I imagine some folks will shift what they want. Past history tells us most manufacturers produce the halo versions first because of...

Scout UX / UI / infotainment / software deep dive demo from CES!

Looks great so far. Here's hoping they planned ahead so that when they actually release the vehicles, the h/w won't be outdated and can not only power the s/w at release but have the headroom to take on more/new features.

Scout Stores / Service Centers ("Scout Studios") plans revealed: 25 will open in 2027, expanding to 100 by 2032

I hope Scout doesn't make the same mistake as Rivian wrt service. After more than two years since delivering its first vehicles, Rivian service is still lagging with months long appointment queues, vehicles sitting for days in the shop before even being looked at, tons of money spent on...

    Battery Size kWh estimated

The Rivian R1T goes ~300 miles with AT tires and a ~135kWh battery. the Terra is a bigger vehicle but i'd imagine it will get similar efficiency (probably slightly worse) assuming their engineers are as good as Rivian's, so it should be able to get 300 miles with a 140-145kWh battery

I'm skeptical of the range numbers [efficiency, charging speed discussions]

    a) there's little reason to speculate at this point, way too early. b) don't let the "looks" fool you. most people would assume the Cybertruck has a lower coefficient of drag than the R1T but its actually the opposite. c) the R1T/R1S can get 300 miles of range with about a 135kWh battery so...

    Interior/Comfort Requests

imo, the stuff you have to interact with daily is more important than the stuff you use infrequently. that being said here's what i would like to see Scout spend priority on: Comfortable seats - well bolstered, multi-adjustable, cooled/heated Premium Audio - unless you have an elite sound...
