In before the politics lock.

As a former CA resident I would not want to pay for other people to get money back on their 80k SUV purchase nor as a current non-CA resident do I want to subsidize the plan either. Manufactures will just raise prices for everyone if they are forced to subsidize CA buyers.

With CA’s current deficit I think they could put the 200 million to other better uses.

If the EVs are good people will buy them, it gets really messy when government puts their finger on the scale. And yes, I think that about everything they have their finger on, big farm, big oil, big whatever.

For those who are CA reservation holders, thoughts?

It's very eerily similar to the EV/PHEV rage from 2016-2022 that I took advantage of.

CARB did administer it and the funds were replenished every year.

I was able to snag a $4000 state rebate check for our PHEV which we still have.

This time the manufacturer is having to match it - that's going to be a tough sell unless the manufacturer will receive something in exchange.

And the price tag numbers appear out of the IRS playbook.

I’m happy to take advantage of whatever incentives are available for me at the time of purchase. I’m happy to live in California where this might be possible.
