i would like to avoid Going to gas stations if i could. having said that order is editable, we will see what 2027 brings for us

Lightning should be ready for upgrade by the time this comes out. Hooked on the full EV lifestyle now.

2022 Bronco Wildtrak / 2023 Explorer ST Line
Full EV Traveler here as well. Wife currently drives a 2DR Bronco Wildtrak that she loves but the smaller fuel tank sucks. We wanted to keep something close to what we have for style, capability and price point but nothing is out there just yet. This Traveler fits the bill! My wife hates the dealership for service and gas stations for fuel ups once a week.
We had our house built a couple years ago with the level 2 charging outlets in the garage in anticipation of an eventual EV purchase. Just haven’t been convinced of a model to jump on. This thing should kick ass!

Curious, since you have an F-150 already, why you weren't convinced on the Lightning EV?

I bought the reg cab short bed for myself for now but to eventually go to my son for his first vehicle. It’s a sentimental thing. I grew up in an 87 RCSB with my dad and it was my first truck. I want the same experience with my kiddo. Grow up riding in it and pass it onto him in a handful of years once he’s 16. I had the inline 6 and 2wd. I always wanted a V8 and 4X4 RCSB so I finally got one….25 years later lol

I have a 2015 Tesla that we bought new and a 2023 Audi E Tron GT, so I went gas+electric for my Scout. I could easily change my mind as we get closer to production and know the specs of the all electric. I’ll always have at least one ICE vehicle for towing.

Mach E Maverick Wagoneer High Boy Mach 1
I have grown very comfortable with EVs after having the Mach E. I just can’t see myself purchasing another ICE vehicle. I have several classic cars, a Maverick Hybrid, and Wagoneer that we barely drive after getting the Mach E. 350 miles of range is plenty for 99% of time.

EV owner since 2018. Can't go back. Surprised how many orders have included harvester but I wouldn't expect the cost to be much different either way? Batteries are expensive. 800v is great news. Hopefully will have 10kW discharge V2H. Infrastructure is constantly improving. I think REX will be a small blip on the road to freedom from fossil fuels but clearly there are many that for now at least, think/need differently. Unless you are towing, or going deep back country, I don't see the point but if this introduces EV's of any type to more people as a result, I'm all for it. Choice is a good thing. VW Group has the capacity to do this so makes sense. I need 250mi of daily BEV range for the winter so the REX option doesn't work for me even if I did want it.

I could see there being a big reverse in REX orders today and actual ones at time of delivery but that's just my 2¢.(you can change your mind at order time!) I'm not an industry expert but I think if you are towing long distances, that engine is going to be running for much of your trip. if you are only towing once or twice a year, maybe a diesel rental truck would be the way to go?

Infrastructure improvement should take care of many concerns getting to/from back country trails. If this was something available today, I could see the REX option being popular but in 3+ years and even further out, I'd imagine the sheer number of charging stations will eliminate most range anxiety. Then you are left with towing. If we can get battery prices down, we'll see trailers with their own battery packs for those willing to put up with the pain of charging both at the same time.

Can't happen fast enough but in the meantime, kudos to Scout for having this option even though it's not for me.

For me there are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of production uncertainties. We are easily looking at more than 3 years out. Concept vehicles to production generally have a lot of changes, and honestly range tends to be something that initial goals never really truly reach.

I have plenty of ICE vehicles. I want and EV with greater than 300 miles of range. Don't really want the complexity of both at the same time.

In a couple of years, I suspect a lot of questions will be answered - abet many might have to wait till production starts and final versions drive off the assembly line (with price tags attached). I am crossing fingers, perhaps even praying a bit.

Realistically - this is the 4th vehicle I have had high hopes for - and the other 3 failed to even come close to meeting their expectations (2 have not reached production and honestly probably never will, the 3rd I think finally made production (abet 2 years late), and missed it's targets by so much it was DOA for me. I think they promised 400 mile range and delivered 240 - and only for $30k more than initially projected - not to mention they completely redesigned the styling from perfect to well frankly UGLY. I really hope the Scout projections have been based on a realistically obtainable battery tech - not some thing promised that might actually go into production in a decade or 2. Not that I don't dream that that tech will become available in time to be in the Traveler and it have oh say 600 mile range between recharges.... Hope springs eternal.
