LKAS and unencrypted CAN bus for Comma.ai Openpilot

Well, I'm definitely NOT impressed by Rivian's current ACC and lane centering capability and I'm afraid their new hands-free capability in a few weeks will only be for the Gen 2 Rivians which have more cameras.

LKAS and unencrypted CAN bus for Comma.ai Openpilot

I can see where Openpilot would be beneficial for vehicles which do not already have ACC et. al. but why would I want to use it for vehicles (e.g. Rivians) that already have the capability? Is Openpilot supposed to be better than OEMs capabilities? If so, then why wouldn't the OEMs just use...

Cabana Top + Scout Binoculars - new photos (Traveler)

FWIW, a tow hitch-based system (e.g. Yakima EXO System) is a better solution as far as capacity, accessibility, and drag for max miles; obviously, unless you are also towing or want a roof-top tent. ;-)

    Right to repair

Some have interpreted that they support right to repair by planning on 80% of repairs that can be done in your driveway but technically,, they meant via their mobile services like Tesla and Rivian. https://support.scoutmotors.com/en/articles/10034786-where-will-i-be-able-to-service-a-scout-vehicle

    Right to repair

Technically, that's not their official statement. What they say is the following: The context was the mobile service they plan to offer like Tesla and Rivian. https://support.scoutmotors.com/en/articles/10034786-where-will-i-be-able-to-service-a-scout-vehicle

Dislikes about your current vehicle that’s offered / solved by the Scout Traveler / Terra?

The concept vehicles both had real leather which must be cleaned and conditioned no more often than cleaning your interior anyway and is simple as using leather wipes. I'll take my wife's Cayenne's leather interior but both concept vehicles' interiors looked great. Hopefully, they offer real...

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Yeah I was on the fence over the R1S 20" AT vs 22" wheele and ultimately opted for the 22" since you only lose 15-20 miles for a max range of 308 since it's my daily driver that upon which I put 100+ miles per day. I figured I'd eventually get a set of the 20"AT wheels but so far haven't been...

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Sure. Rivian 20" AT wheels lose ~40 miles range which is still a helluva lot better than 150 miles max range.

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Yes, my R1S was what I wanted when I preordered it in 3/21 but if Scout can actually deliver what they've promoted, then they will address 99% of what I hate about my R1S. As far as rock climbing, a Gen 1 quad motor Rivian R1T did better than most ICEV with locker/LSD at Hell's Gate in Moab...

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Rivians already offer this and are only going to be even more efficient in the next 2-3 years as battery tech gets better.

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Spoken like someone who has never driven a vehicle that does 0-60 in 3s.? It's a big difference than 4.5s which is what my wife's Cayenne can do; it's literally 50% slower. Not sure which public roads you drive but 60 mph is not out of the norm on my daily commute. And sure, most drivers...

4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Well, that validates my BEV choice. My threshold for getting my first BEV (2023 Rivian R1S quad motor) was a max range at least 300 miles; I have ZERO desire to have a battery pack that gets less than that. Also, 0-60 in 4.5s is glacial coming from a Rivian R1S quad that does 0-60 in 3s. I'd...

Bad ASSumption. See Rivian data collection clause for details for which there is no opt-OUT.

    Car Data Collection

Until Scout gets hacked or provides your data to its *affiliates* like Rivian et. al. As far as smartphones, there are PLENTY of de-Googled smartphones from which to choose; however, if you've succumbed to the Apple Stockholm Syndrome and refuse to escape, then there's really no hope for you. ;-)

    Car Data Collection

After waiting 2+ years for your Scout preorder, are you really going to cancel your transaction when presented with a data collection clause in your purchase agreement that provides no opt-OUT? This was the dilemma that Rivian owners had to deal with. Anonymizing data is a myth. Plenty of...

    Car Data Collection

OTA updates are not the major concern, although the example below is a bit unsettling. Millions of General Motors' cars were vulnerable to hackers for almost five years The main issue is not being able to opt-OUT of data collection in general and in particular what they do with YOUR DATA like...

Scout has more than 50K reservations so far (as of 1/8/25). 70% Traveler SUV

Just to clarify, I meant TV ads. Obviously, social media ads are ubiquitous. That said. I have yet to see one Rivian TV ads since preordering mine in 3/21. Every $ spent on marketing is one less $ spent on engineering, design, and/or production.
