Does it make sense that the DTC detail should have been a determining factor beforehand I don't think the way the current climate towards clean energy or EV's that Scout is going to be able to achieve DTC especially with their detailed investment in Rivian lawyers for dealer association will prove they invested in Rivian to utilize Rivian technology in Scout which seems to be the case.

Not losing interest, but coming to terms with my real reason for wanting a Scout (wifey helped with that). The truth is, this will be a nostalgia purchase for me. I’ve owned two, my dad owned four. I learned to drive in the ‘67. My first thought was, I want all the off-road bells and whistles. Am I going to do that? Probably less than 5%. I do “need” a PU though… ‘every man should have a PU’ Right? I occasionally need something to carry stuff with, but not often. Hence my Terra Harvester reservation.

I’m educating myself on EV’s in general and all the associated positives and negatives. To my surprise my attitudes against EV’s has taken a hard 90o turn (not 180). Battery and charging technology seems to be advancing at warp speed. Who knows what will be de rigueur in two years. I may re-think the Harvester choice down the road, even if I do make road trips with it.

So… STILL EXCITED!

The low activity of this thread (and many others here) is indicative of an interesting couple of products with really nice looking prototypes and reasonable price targets but SLOW execution. Two years after the well executed into, we are still 2 years out (at best) and an unfinished factory with no real production vehicle details. Tesla was capable of standing up their Gigafactories in 18 months or less with production starting shortly there after. As for the product lines, the Cybertruck was a legitimate disaster for Tesla and that leaves the pickup as well as the full size SUV market wide open for Scout EV products. It's all about the time to market and building quality products at reasonable prices. Scout is not blazing new trails here and with battery technology and unboxing manufacturing techniques getting better every day, Scout needs to be nimble as well as decisive. Are they up to the challenge? that's anybody's guess but I'm more hopeful than optimistic.

Was so excited at the beginning. Loved the Traveler and all it offered. Thought the Harvester option was simply awesome.

Then I found out the Harvester took away half of the battery-only range and handicapped towing. So, I cancelled it and kept the BEV version.

Then Trump announced his tariffs and my country (Canada) announced reciprocal tariffs. Then there was a logical discussion that it wouldn't make any sense for Scout to offer sales or service centres in Canada given the new animosity between the two former allies.

...snip
same, I was super excited and put down a deposit, now not so much. How did you request a refund ? I have no idea how to go about doing that.

Open the “Manage Your Reservation “ link on the reservation confirmation e-mail you received from Scout. Should be able to request the refund there BUT what’s the rush.

We are nowhere near the end of the timeline laid out at the time orders opened. When I ordered on 10/25/24 I assumed my actual vehicle delivery would be 12 to 18 months following the
release of the first production vehicles.

We also have no final spec’s to actually evaluate the vehicles capabilities and technology is advancing at a fast pace.

Bringing a new technology and vehicle brand is a major undertaking. About the only thing that will cause me to cancel is to have to go to a VW dealership and listen to the magic mist sales pitch in order to get my vehicle delivered (will actually consider the extended warranty).

Okay let's get realistic you saw a rendering you loved it you put a whooping 100 dollars down to secure a spot for a vehicle that won't be built for 2 more years . It will cost 6% more at least due to inflation and most likely be having to be bought at dealerships with current Administration's policies and dealer group alignments.. So with that knowledge I have to make an educated decision do I let my 100 bucks sit and be very happy I did in 2 yrs when you forgot about it or get a refund. But for a pizza , pitcher of beer and a tip you can have an option to buy what I hope is an amazing vehicle built buy amazing people who put pride into their workmanship. Me I'll just enjoy my pizza and wait for my order sheet.

Good points, and I concur with your assessment. The EV industry seems to be evolving so rapidly that any pre-emptive decision made now might be hasty.

let your deposit ride and see what happens.

patience. I'll bet it isn't like everyone here does not have a rig. This one looks like it is definitely going to be worth the wait. Last one was 4 years, 5 months 14 days and 14 hrs.,,,,,,,,,,,, clock is ticking and my excitement is growing !!!!!!!!!!

I just have to ask is it just me or these articles all refer to VW owned Scout how are they going to take accolades on one hand and claim no association on the other when it comes to DTC sales. More and more article after article they seem to incriminate themselves. And once existing tech and hardware are integrated from Rivian and VW I cannot see how the distance themselves from VW dealership networks law suites especially with current climate.
