Per Jamie at Scout:

Scout Traveler concept (in new color) will be on display in front of the Perelman Performing Arts Center (corner of Fulton and Greenwich St.) in NYC on September 18-19th.

Both concept vehicles will be on display at the Atlantic Festival nearby.

Solar panels just aren’t efficient enough for that yet. Even the best sit around 20-25%. The surface area is just too small and would only yield around 200-250w. Efficiency in EVs is measured in miles per kilowatt. 10 times more than what it might generate in a day.
Look at the Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid. It was supposed to add 2.5 miles per day. And that’s for a sleek sedan. Possible, but expensive option to feel eco-conscious IMO. However, cumulative over-a-year-numbers would make it a little easier to digest I guess.

Solar toner cover could help at the camp site especially if it was tied to its separate little battery storage just like a light switch a little boost if need be in dyer situation but be a cool stand alone option Jesse if your listing ???

Yes tonneau cover be no different than a portable RV solar battery set up but built into system be able to segregate from main system or use in a pinch

I'd be willing to pay for a gimmick neat thing like electrochromic glass or solar panels - but I think the take rate would be very low so probably not worth developing either.

To me Scout should integrate it into build it's just smart. If it can add 5% of battery charge or be a stand alone power option simply by pushing a button to me it's something that helps me digest the 70 k that these are going to end up costing nothing goes down in cost especially in the timeframe scout is on for delivery. So every creative option scout can incorporate into its build will be important to set them apart from offerings at that time. Keep in mind VW has two step children Rivian and Scout Rivian is in college Scout is still in grade school many things can happen but VW needs for both to graduate.

Again, I personally don’t think it’s practical. Maybe Scout is quirky enough to attempt it. However, at an estimated 120-130 kWh battery pack for full EV versions, even a perfectly oriented panel on the bed would literally take months to charge that HV battery pack. It’s not easily marketable for the cost.

I get what you are saying, @joewilk45. I hope they come through for you and give you that as a standalone option!

I think that’s the first shocking (pun intended) thing I discovered about electricity with my first EV. It takes a tremendous amount of stored power to move these vehicles. A wall outlet we see as “power” is laughable to a HVBP when you start pushing 350 kWh into it at a high voltage DC charger.

Anywho, to steer us back to the OP’s new color post, what is the consensus of the color that will be unveiled? Any thoughts?

Is this still scheduled to be on display on these days?

Jaime, do we need to buy tickets for the Atlantic Festival in order to see the Traveler and meet Scout Motors folks?

Jamie doesn't "work" here. He's on another Scout forum.
