Thanks to @SpaceEVDriver for sending me down a rabbit hole of calculations after bringing it up on the Official Scout Community Forums.


Scout ii, quick fact in case anybody wants to do it when you convert its 20 MPGe to kWh it gets .593384

Scouts possible Efficiency number (averaged from Scout 2 1980 and Rivian): +/-1.735

Mileage on each possible battery kWh to reach the expected range on battery:

350miles Full Electric

150miles On Battery for Harvester



Harvester-

75kWh: 130miles

80kWh: 138miles

85kWh: 147miles

90kWh: 156miles

Fully Electric-

175kWh: 303miles

180kWh: 312miles

185kWh: 320miles

190kWh: 329miles

195kWh: 338miles

200kWh: 346miles

209kWh: 362miles

All calculations could be: +/-

***(mind you this is all math related, without any software system that will optimize battery usage so calculations of these numbers could be off slightly)***

The Rivian R1T goes ~300 miles with AT tires and a ~135kWh battery. the Terra is a bigger vehicle but i'd imagine it will get similar efficiency (probably slightly worse) assuming their engineers are as good as Rivian's, so it should be able to get 300 miles with a 140-145kWh battery

Your math has to be off. The Ultium truck platform has a 212Kwh battery and they go in the mid 400 miles, in a vehicle much bigger and heavier than the Scouts.

My estimate, purely speculation based on nothing more than noggin math comparing other vehicles, is 150kwh battery pack in BEV trucks. The R1T Max Tri has a 141kwh battery and is good for 370 miles EPA.

Your “noggin math” could be off. Since we all have zero clue to what its efficiency number is. The 1.735 was an averaged number from Scout ii and Rivian.

130kWh would only be used for the Full EV.

Since the Harvester only get 150miles on battery it would be less than 130kWh

If i was to go with a 2.22 as the efficiency i would have probably gotten closer to what you got. But i decided to do an average between Rivian and Scout 2 stupid on my part lol.

I have Owned Rivians the last 3 plus years and have driven 40k plus miles . The average is around 2.2 Miles/kWh. These numbers are based mostly on Highway driving in South Florida. I think a better approximation for the Scout battery size should be miles/2.2.

I have Owned Rivians the last 3 plus years and have driven 40k plus miles . The average is around 2.2 Miles/kWh. These numbers are based mostly on Highway driving in South Florida. I think a better approximation for the Scout battery size should be miles/2.2.
Wouldn't that number only make sense for warm weather climates like yours?

Yes... however it is a good estimate number for calculating the battery size. The A/C load on hot humid days in South Florida eats up battery especially pre-cooling the car when parked under the noon Sun.

so 350/2.2 is 159, I’m not too far off with my guess of 150.

so 350/2.2 is 159, I’m not too far off with my guess of 150.

Scouts will have 33”-35” AT tires. Probably around 160-175kWh because of the loss from the tires. Don't get too excited everyone lol.

Rivian don't run knobby tires like how the Scout is running KO3. Rivians run Pirelli Scorpions.

I have KO3’s on my Sequoia. They’re much more road oriented A/T’s than one would believe from profile pictures. The Scorpion A/T’s are not the best tire, but the impact on range should be roughly the same. Plus, OEM versions of tires are hardly ever the same as aftermarket. The OEM Falken AT4W thAT come on TRD Pro Tundras are not the same compound as true AT4W.
