I couldn't find a sub-forum for general battery tech. Mods, please move this if another forum is more appropriate.

Looks like this is ready for production. In the context of use by domestic car makers, IMO, the benefits are lower cost, better cold weather performance and freedom from reliance on imported rare earths. The range (in the vehicles mentioned in the attached article) is middling. (Edit: also safer).

To me battery tech is on the cusp of becoming more efficient and affordable making EREV's obsolete for the masses only for commercial vehicles and towing. They will become the K cars of our era.

if Scout said " this battery will be interchangeable as battery tech improves" I would go strictly EV. Thought of no gas ever is awesome. But that true 400 miles is a hard target to get to.

Two years of engineering working to be the first excites me even if that technology comes from China. The us auto industry scare tactics of Chinese cars spying on us ?? I guess we need to rid our homes of TV's , Alexa , Google home. US auto makers need to rise to the occasion or be left behind. And if my Chinese auto posted me and my wife enjoying a drive in movie I'd be proud that the world knows old white guys still can fog up the windows. Let's start using our god given brains and then the future won't be so shocking. Enjoy the Superbowl and the fun that surrounds it
