I currently have Cadillac VISTIQ 310 miles range have only driven so far in warm temperatures I will be venturing back north for Christmas will see fist hand but if they can accomplish 500 miles of range Lucid is currently offering it and Escalade IQ is specking 450 so by the time Scout gets there shit together 500 mile battery packs should be available and they should be able to engineer them into design while being developed. Meaning they engineer a accessible space that allows easy battery access So basically these big Tonka trucks could be sitting in Scouts manufacturing facilities waiting for their batteries in once VW has them
Here's a pretty good exploration of the effects of drag and temperature on EV range. https://www.geotab.com/blog/ev-range-impact-of-speed-and-temperature/

As I've noted previously, we travel often (three seasons) to our cabin in NW Colorado. The cabin is off-grid. It has a 25 year old 12 volt solar system (12 6-volt 445 ah flooded deep cycle batteries charged by 6 100-110 watt solar panels). Charging a 400 or 800 volt EV battery is not within this system's capability. The nearest town is 45 miles away (we pass through it on the way). It has about a half dozen Tesla chargers in a Maverick gas station parking lot. Using the data from the attached article if I drove to the cabin from our home in moderate winter weather (35-40 degrees) at the speed limit I should have about 55-60% of a 500 mile range battery. Let's use the higher number and posit 300 miles of range. That would bring me into Craig, Colorado with perhaps 20 miles left "in the tank". Cutting it pretty close. And it will take a while to charge a mostly depleted battery. Add to that the fact that the temps at the cabin (roughly 9000 ft in elevation) some hunting seasons have dipped into significant negative numbers (F). The coldest I've seen is -30.

All of this is to restate/reinforce the reality that everything depends on your use case. A pure plug-in EV does not fit mine. YMMV.

That's why we need both options but I think the majority would be fine wit 500 miles of range with all the weather. Other things that impact range
