2023 Volvo xc90 recharge plug in / 2015 Lexus nxt200
500 mile range is needed for weather and towing and simple round trip journeys without stopping to charge . I go visit grandkids round trip with going to their games and spending weekends is 250 miles without winter or summer variants so to me manufacturers need to hit the 500 miles mark and that can be and has been done in China

Congrats!

But they don't build EV's for you, they build them to match the majority of their customers and their needs. Most people don't drive 250 miles every day, a distance that a F150 Lightning or Rivian can do without recharging.

No you don't get it the average commute is fine 300 miles of range works in most cases. But you go to visit your kids 90 miles away spend weekend going to grandkids games and going to dinner buy time you return home it's 250 miles add winter hot summer it's cutting it close so once battery tech advances 500 miles will be the bar this even works for apartment dwellers better as well you will see within 2 yrs it's not just daily range it convince of charging Santa will be switching to a Solid State Sleigh the BYD elf's are designing it

And currently the Chevy Silverado and GMC Denali pick ups get 480 miles of range the Cadillac Escalade IQ gets 460 so 500 is soon to be common Lucid exceeds it but at a premium price by the time scout comes to production we should be there VW will have the battery technology they need to catapult Scout to the forefront they have to it can't be a Rivian Step sister

Oh I get it. The current range is fine for 95% of the owners, you want MFG to cater to your use case, not the 95% use cases.

The #1 selling EV truck was just canceled and the next day VW canceled the ID Buzz and you really believe a new truck will launch with 500 mile range? Have you priced the GM versions with long range? Unfortunately voting has consequences, modifying the CAFE standards has an impact, this is one of several that MFG's are taking note of and reacting accordingly.

No that 500 miles range with all the variables weather apartment dwellers 500 mile range alleviates those anxieties making them more desirable to the masses I am fine currently with 310 miles of range my Cadillac VISTIQ gives me but 500 would be the sweet spot Happy Holidays

Looks like I can get my solid state battery in a motorcycle while waiting for my Scout (motors in hub tech is a bonus!).

I would be willing to wait an extra year to get a solid state battery vs buying ASAP with last generation batteries.

Scout could crank out Harvester’s early in production and be among the first to roll out solid state batteries if timing works out?!

Solid state batteries would be awesome. I might also be willing to wait in line after the Harvester builds to get sodium battery technology if it reduces cost. Range won't be the biggest factor for my use case so I'm willing to trade that for a lower purchase price and a potentially safer and longer lasting battery.

While Sodium batteries will have their place, I do not believe it will be in EVs. Sodium batteries, last I checked, have a lower energy density. This means they will weigh more and have less energy storage than lithium based batteries. I think Sodium batteries have a place in stationary storage applications, just not in EVs.

Solid State batteries, looks like Donut may have figure things out, are going to be the game changer when it comes to EVs.
