I use Android Auto on my Bronco, and it connects when I'm driving my son's Escape as well. In this era, it's an expected feature. I love those Google maps in living color on the screen. So much nicer than a suction-cup Garmin.

However, I also subscribe to the Ford Bronco Navigation App. It's a drawn map, not a satellite photo, but it's good backup for $60/year, because The google/Android app does cut out in remote areas, but the built-in Ford Navigation App has never failed.
Lol, I remember those Garmin days too.

The derision of people asking for CP/AA on the Rivian Forum approaches fanboi proportions. No reason that Rivian can’t offer their own infotainment system alongside of CP/AA, and let the users choose what they’d rather use. But no, anyone that asks for CP/AA is considered addled, or told to that maybe they should be driving something else.

Instead, the buzz is over “will Rivian give us ‘Halloween costumes’ this year?”, and disappointment when said “costumes” don’t work or aren’t up to expectations. Talk about a waste of dev resources…
Rivian has pretty obviously been AstroTurfing the issue for a while now. On the reddit forum the upvote/downvote patterns on AA/Carplay threads are wildly inorganic - Huge flood of downvotes for AA/CP supporters that then slowly reverses back up over the next few days.

I know it was previously confirmed already, but it was still nice to see the Carplay icon on the infotainment screen.

- from the Out of Spec video.
Thanks! I missed that in the video. I wonder what the implementation might look like. I like what scout is doing with the UI. Can they do CarPlay in its own floating window? Just take bits and pieces like maps and replace preloaded maps?
Eager to learn more.

They are putting Apple CarPlay in. I was messaging with Jamie from Scout last night.

Android Auto will also be on it. He said last night probably another year before they make the announcement.
Great News. Andriod Auto and Apple car play are essential!

I sure hope this is true. I also will cancel my order if it doesn't have CarPlay…
I also won't buy a newer GM, Rivian or Tesla because CarPlay is that important to me.
Fully agree. Was looking at the Silverado EV but it is off the list due to lack of CarPlay. The car manufacturers want to sell your driving habit data. This is the reason nearly all new cars have SiriusXM or some cellular connection so they can get this data. That is where the big money is.

That's how I feel about Sirius XM. I guess you'd say I'm an XM Power User. Have it going in my cars and at home almost 24/7. Android Auto & Apple Car Play are great until you get off the beaten path and lose cell service. Of course you can continue to stream your personal play list if it's on your phone, but I much prefer a Satellite connection for variety at my fingertips, including the non-music stuff.

Not very knowledgeable in the cell and satellite service restrictions and abilities, but often wonder why XM doesn't offer a satellite cell service. I've tried to sign up for one of the discounted deal StarLink services, but apparently I live in an area that the "discounted deals" aren't available.

Who do the knowledgeable people about satellite think will be the first to offer satellite cell and when if ever do you think we will make that jump?

I think Starlink will be the first to offer new Satellite cell. Iridium has been around since the 90's. Premium price but they have 100% coverage with the poles covered. Both are Low Earth Orbit, so low latency. Iridium is only 2400 bps, while Starlink is 11-60 Mbps. The total throughput for the system is not high enough to support millions, let alone a billion+ more connections. That is why some markets have discounts and others do not. If the area is close to peak saturation, you cannot get a fixed Starlink until other users cancel or they increase satellite density or bandwidth. Mobile Starlink may get throttled when in a busy market. They work best outside of towns.
