I'm a happy Model X owner who loves the car and has zero interest in camping. I need a 300+ mile people and bike (E variety) hawler that isn't a minivan. I drive less than 10K miles/year and I'm retired so have time, health and fortunately the resources to travel and have fun. I thought the...
Personally, I'm hoping there is continued financial support by VW with very little involvement in actual decision making. Rivian has more to offer Scout in terms of collaboration .
That reservation number is within 24 hours of the reveal and from the list here. Regardless, I feel it's a low enough reservation number that should allow me to get an early VIN.
Good points. The wife and I have a 240V Tesla wall charger in the garage that we share when needed. This charger adds 40 MPH of range. We also have two of the 120V chargers that we plug in almost every day. I've read info from Tesla that says keeping the vehicles plugged into low voltage power...
Your must be getting biased anti BEV information from your information sources. As a 5 year owner of multiple Tesla's the range is much better than 80% of projected unless you live somewhere with very cold weather and even then, 80% would be a worst case scenario.
It's very similar to ICE in...
Yes and no. My wife drove Chevy Volts which use the Harvester gas generator method and as her commuter car +/- 25 miles a day she loved her Volts (she had 3 of em). Once she had not added fuel for a full year and the Volt made her drive on gas to empty the tank before she could resume electric...
My Cybertruck reservation ended after the Scout reveal. I'm like 381 on the Scout list so should be a beta tester. I did however drive the Cybertruck and the steer by wire feature is THE party trick for that vehicle. That's not enough to get me to buy one but it is the way of the future. The...
Tesla Model X owner and currently thinking the BEV Traveler with 350 mile range is my choice. I have home charging and feel comfortable that the Supercharger Network will meet my road tripping needs. I also don't want the maintenance of an ICE supported powertrain like the Harvesters. In four...
I think Scout will be using Rivian Hardware/Software and the Instrument cluster will more closely resemble that. Even with the hybrid "Traveler" drive it will need to be a computer on wheels as are all BEV's.
I don't like changing brake pads and rotors. Using 1 pedal driving with high regen means infrequent brake pad changes. That is a good thing on many levels. Also, when driving my Model X no one in the car knows if the regen is braking because it is so smooth. I have the option to brake hard when...
As was stated above, when using 1 pedal driving you can use the brakes at will. Honestly, . I've been driving Tesla's for a few years now and 1 pedal driving has been one of my favorite features. It becomes natural very quickly and when I drive a car without 1PD it feels privative.
If Scout...
I love the idea of the Cabana top but durability, water intrusion and excess NVH are my concerns. Anxious for reviews on that particular feature but probably won't get those till 2027.
Interesting but I think we are getting into KISS principle territory here. I really like BEV's for their reliability and lack of maintenance of the drive system. If you tow big stuff, then the Harvester might just be the answer. Horses for courses. :)
Yep, it was a "smart car" in that my wifes commute was less than 40 miles per day she was always on electric drive. One year she received a warning on the screen that the cars gasoline was nearly a year old and it automatically ran on gas only until that the tank was emptied of the old gas. She...
The Chevy Volt was a much better design and close to full performance was available after the 40 mile range of the battery was exhausted. It was however a awful sounding generator under heavy load which is why I'm skeptical of the Harvester for my use cases.
