Would you change /cancel your Scout order?

The difference in performance while in hybrid or extender mode surprised me. Given the architecture I thought there would be no difference, but I guess they have to make it where the extender can keep up with the output. Like many others, I am keeping my EREV Traveler reservation as is, but if the numbers being quoted now end up being what goes to production I will probably either cancel or switch to the BEV.

If the Harvester towing amount is in fact 5k lbs at launch I’ll cancel for sure and probably go ramcharger or diesel. My Grand Cherokee can tow 7,200 lbs, if a full size truck can’t compete, it would be a let down. The harvester was touted as the solution for people towing and that’s the exact people that will be leaving if that number stays low. Here’s hoping for more, I really want a Scout!

I'm going to do the crazy thing and just chill. The vehicle is 2+yrs out from being officially released (with the specs and numbers) and 3+yrs from actually being manufactured. A LOT of things can change in both the positive and negative directions

Not sure at this point. I had planned on using the Traveler Harvester to tow my boat. Usually not very far. The 7,000 lb initial tow weight was perfect. The new 5,000 weight limit is inadequate.

The original info was 350 battery with harvester motor adding 150 additional miles. Now it is actually the opposite.

Right now, I am not sure what to do.

Yeah, I was very surprised going from 300 350 to 150. If that’s what the number is gonna be I’m gonna have to cancel both of my reservations because I plan on using these vehicles for vacations and 150 miles on electric is not what I signed up for

Yeah, we’ve got almost 3 years ago. They’ll be a lot of changes before then so I’m just gonna relax and see how it goes.

What new info was there? As far as I can tell all of that info was already known. I am still in for the harvester. The 150 miles of Eclectic range should be enough for most of my driving, but having the back up plan makes so much sense..... Added Edit... I don't plan on Towing anything.

Maybe I missed something but I didn’t realize that the EV only range was 150. That’s just disgraceful!!!
When a Hyundai Kona gets 200 like range and even the ugly and low mile & bad charge curve Toyota bz4X/ Subaru Solterra gets 250/230ish miles Scout sure starts to sound like a huge waste of money. ?

I’ll keep my Terra harvester reservation for now, but my PowerBoost F-150 search is going to get more serious for the near term. And hopefully my work adds a Ramcharger to its test fleet whenever they finally drop, though the 400v architecture is certainly less appealing. By then maybe some more info about the rumored Ford Superduty RXEV will be available.

I noted everything Scott said during the introduction event in October about the advantages of the full EV, which is why I reserved it over the Harvester. I even asked the Scout admins if I could change it later if I changed my mind, to which they told me yes, and that I could even switch to the Terra, if I wanted, at any time before I place my actual order. I’m an environmentalist and car enthusiast, completely aligned with RJ Scaringe, so I really want to completely eliminate emissions. I also love off-roading and know it’s possible with EVs (just watch Rivian owner or TFL videos). If the Traveler delivers 350 miles of range, it’ll be exactly what I’m looking for, with its perfect styling and off-road prowess.

To put it more succinctly, Scott’s interview on Leno’s Garage just reaffirmed how much I want the Traveler, so no, I’m holding strong on my EV reservation and can’t wait for it to come out!

Well buy the time all the do's and don't's get worked out and by the time Scout order time comes around the world will be great again and we won't have to worry about anything because Scout thought of the Egg Drawer to keep your 100 dollar a dozen babies safe during transport.

The closer we get to launch time, the less flexibility Scout will have to change anything major on these cars. At some point, designs have to go to tooling, and making major changes, such as size of EREV engine or battery size will become cost and schedule prohibitive. Don’t know how close they are to that point, but I’d guess they are well past the major change point. I wouldn’t expect those specs to change a whole lot.

Clarification... The EV only version will get 350 miles. The EREV (Harvester) version with the gas generator is said to go 150 miles on only the battery, then the gas generator provides an additional 350 miles of range for a total of 500 miles on the EREV version

That is what I believe to be the case. But in 2 yrs a lot can happen. I would like to know when does Scout see us actually getting numbers and manufacturing timelines

For me, the biggest most likely problem will be timing of battery tech. Scout is likely to need to be locking in their battery tech before SSB is really ready for prime time. But my fear is how much before. If I need to wait 3 years before the Scout is available, and it really looks like 12-18 months more would give me SSB. Well that would be a hard decision. That said, I suspect even if it is 12-18 months - the expected price difference might be the deciding factor. Sure SSB's might be available by the time the Scout hits the road, but at what premium? They might be available on $150k ultra premium vehicles, but it might be 5 more years before they trickle down to the masses. The last vehicles to get them will likely be affordable vehicles with huge batteries.

I will keep my Traveler Harvester res for now, but if tow capacity stays at 5K I will need to go a different direction as I tow to the desert every year.

Looking forward to the future I figure June of 2027 possibly but more like November we will see reality and a Harvester model will most likely at delivery be 65,000 dollars and fully optimized 74 k I do not predict to many 55,000 dollar scouts and yes to me Battery technology will be big. Hyundai brings solid state batteries to market in 2027 that could be a game changer but right now can't wait to see the offerings and cost associated with them but my assumptions are above
