Hey friends. Scout Motors just sent out an email to all those with reservations or subbed to the other forum. In it, they dropped this video of what they're up to in cold weather testing. The email came from [email protected] It's nice to get some news of any kind!!

From the email:

"Check out this video to see the testing in action. But before you do, a quick heads up – you might notice that these don’t look like our Scout® Traveler™ and Terra™ concept models. That’s because they’re test mules – early prototypes built from vehicles modified with our components so we can stress-test them before we manufacture consumer vehicles. They might look a little different, but trust me, they’re engineered to give us the real-world data we need to ensure our truck and SUV are at their best by the time production starts."

A Sneak Peek into How We’re Testing Our Scout Vehicles

This is normal marketing & cold weather testing. Nothing new but interesting to hear the story about what they are gathering data on also just to see the vehicle development moving forward.

I'm not trying to pee on this, but this is my point about watching the sausage being made. EVERY mainstream auto manufacturer does this sort of cold weather testing. There is absolutely nothing new about this and one would expect a vehicle such as the new Scouts being developed by a wholly-owned subsidiary of VW AG to perform such engineering and testing of consumer vehicles set for production.
[/QUOTEi get it. It’s a fan site my friend. Anybody on this forum wants as much information as possible. That’s just the way it is.

I'm sure that Scott is very smart and a nice guy, and I don't mean this as a personal attack whatsoever... But I feel like much of what has been put out lately - to include the Jay Leno appearance - is light propaganda and wringing out the heritage and "Scout people are this way" messaging. I'm just bringing it up to say... Maybe tone it down a bit. Could just be me, but it feels forced and injected sometimes. We know messaging and building a brand is important, but rather than the CEO telling me for 2:46 that they're doing winter testing to make sure it works and meets my expectations, how about some insight from an engineer, or designer, or some mechanic talking about (or even better, showing) how it's easy to work on because ________. Show us the product and process and let that speak for the brand, rather than bother the CEO to speak to us about testing theory. Maybe a 30 second hype video at start and end.

Meant to be constructive feedback and vectoring from the consumer arena. Happy to withdraw my comment if I'm the only one with that perspective.

I’d like an icon or button that if pressed will ask the Scout to pre-condition the batteries if needed.

Many EVs it only works if a charging station is selected on the route planner, in route.

I know people that have worked with Scott and he’s a regular guy, the right guy and very popular with subordinates.

Right now he’s selling us a blueprint.
He’s getting word out there Scout is a company with a human face on it, and will offer something unique.

Those of us with deposits have bought saddles and we have no horse and he presented introductions superb.

VW had (has?) a dismal reputation for poor EV customer and dealer service Dept support.

We’re talking obsolete grenaded motors with no replacement available, software updates 2 years behind, bricking $150.000 Taycans with service depts scratching their heads with unresolvable issues lingering for months.

He’s doing a good job IMHO.

The video of the vehicles has them so far away, I thought maybe they were just Jeeps or Rivians or something
