Confirmed: Bench Seat will have folding center w/ cupholders & arm rest

Scout Motors VP of design Dwayne Jackson confirmed to me on Instagram today that the bench seat will have a folding center section when the seat isn’t occupied, and that folding center section will have cup holders and an arm rest. Good news.

Hopefully the driver's seat will adjust independently unlike the prototype pickup that was previously featured. Ideally both the driver and passenger seats would adjust independent of this middle seat/console combo. I had a 2016 Silverado like this and it was fine, handy to have a 6th seat in a pinch but did give up the AC vents to the rear of the cab... definitely a trade-off though.

Would love to see this designed so the driver can put an arm around the middle seat passenger. With today's highback seats that seems like a challenge.

I am undecided on this feature as well. Love the 6 in a pinch seating option plus cuddle compliance for our friends with 2 or 4 legs. The center console of the buckets will have always appreciated storage, wireless charging, etc... I'll need additional details and a deep dive into the features of both before I can decide. Can hardly wait for new info!

Hopefully not a tradeoff we have to consider, but if it is, maybe remote climate controls (“preconditioning”) can make this an acceptable tradeoff?

Well, I was looking forward to a real bench seat so things I put in the seat next to me roll about and end up on the floor…ha ha ha.

But I guess a little convenience in the center would be ok but not what I was expecting.
