I have a different take. The Scout is simply an EREV.
If I drive a Rivian R1T or pure EV Scout Harvester and sometimes carry an electric generator in the truck bed as a precaution, that doesn't make the truck a series hybrid on those times I'm hauling the generator.
One could own an EREV Scout...
I would seriously consider it if it were an extended-range EV. There’s a reason the EREV variants of the Scout have so many more reservations than the pure EVs.
The term EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) applies specifically to PHEVs. It is not used to refer to simple hybrid vehicles, such as the Prius.
EREV is an accurate descriptive term, not marketing jargon, and it is the perfect description for the new Scout.
Is there a review, video, or post that decribes the process of removing the spare from the carrier on the Traveler? How does the driver get access to the nuts used to mount the spare on the carrier?
I ask because I'm hoping that the decorative plastic cover on the carrier is removable, leaving...
You can have it!
OK, I don't really mean that. It's great the Harvester has a full-size spare mounted where it will almost certainly be accessible when needed, and doesn't compromise ground clearance or approach/departure angles.
My complaint is with the plastic froo-froo branding on the...
If KIA offers a plug-in SUV that's off-road capable, I will consider it. Same for a plug-in 4Runner or Bronco.
I like the Scout, but whoever gets the right vehicle (plug-in EV with all-electric range of at least 40 and off-road chops) to the market first likely will get my business.
It will be...
"There's an app for that!" Thanks for the star gazer suggesstion Very cool.

I didn't know the original plan was for only pure EV. I'm glad they added the range extender. For my uses, I need a PHEV or REEV. Given the high percent of folks on this forum who are reporting they've reserved a Scout with the range extender, it was a brilliant move by Scout.
Thanks for this. Landmark Construction has its own webpage on the Scout project. The video there is also interesting:

College girlfriend drove a Scout II. Her father was an IH dealer in Iowa. She shifted the 3-speed manual tranny better than I could. Both the girl and her Scout were sweeties.
Thanks for the link. The article mentions the range extender. That is a big deal for those of us who hope to camp far off the road in remote areas. For me, it's primarily the Mojave & Sonoran deserts, and southern Utah. With the Scout, I can arrive at a remote trailhead or campsite with as much...
