Let’s not assume Scout is making public statements without first doing the necessary engineering due diligence. If we go down that rabbit hole, we need to question everything about Scout.
50% for $42? Hummer EV range is 315 miles. So that’s $.27/mile. If the ICE range (H2 at 32 gallons) is the same, the gas price per gallon would need to be $2.66 to break even. About 10 mpg. If Walmart drops the charge price just a little bit, it makes driving EV and using their network a no brainer.
The problem with existing charging stations is lack of maintenance, especially when the weather gets cold. Nothing more frustrating than finding a station when low on charge and all the stalls are out of order.
I like this concept too and most likely will be making a reservation for a variation on the "Weekender" package. Looks good with a lift and a bit like a 70 Series LC albeit a lot smaller. This would be a commuter rig that will get a custom wrap for my business. I'm hopeful that Slate will do...
I am keeping my Harvester reservation for now, but also seriously intrigued by the new Slate which is targeting 2026 for production. I don’t need more than 3K towing which my FJ can handle. The Slate would be a commuter rig in SUV form (“Weekender”) with custom wrap to support my business.
Dear Scout Motors, please make the rear seats of the Traveler easily removable. Some customers (me included) may want to remove one or both of the rear seats to allow for overlanding furniture to be installed. I did this in my FJ Cruiser and it has been a camping game changer.
I’m hoping the Harvester driving dynamics are not different from the pure EV version. How they manage the weight distribution of less battery with the engine in back and fuel in front will be key.
I love the software but those pre-production screens are showing a lot of glare and reflections (and I’m sure fingerprints). I hope Scout addresses that as they get closer to production.
