I'm a retired engineer - all the best engineers I saw through my career were the ones that could consider a new idea that conflicted with their current design, pivot, and redesign to make a better product (especially prior to production!)
That being said, Scout needs to embrace change once...
One of the things I liked about a Jeep I owned in the past was that a previous owner removed carpet (I'm assuming) and had huge rubber mats front/rear - I could just hose out the dirt/mud after an adventure. I hope there's an option to replace any carpet with some kind of rubber or vinyl floor...
I loved the steering wheel paddles on my ELR - hardly ever used the brake pedal... The Volvo XC40 taught me to love the one-pedal mode which only required the brakes for the last bit of stopping...
