I didn’t realize fuel weighed so much less than water! My math was wrong.
~650lb difference is pretty interesting. That’s the weight of 3 good sized passengers. Sounds like Harvester models may have a higher power to weight ratio.
At 18mpg equivalent, the fuel would weigh 50% more than that by my math, but maybe still lighter than battery? What would 350 miles of battery range weigh roughly?
350 range of battery vs 150 on battery plus gas engine and tank + fuel.
Most of my driving fits inside 150 miles round trip, so I suppose that would work for me. It will be interesting to see the weight difference between the EV and EREV. Gas isn’t light and neither is an engine, so it might not be terribly far off.
I need to think about this some more, as I was...
That’s not what Scout Motors website says.
“Pure electric models offer up to 350 miles of range. Scout’s extended range models offer 500 miles of range or more through a built-in, gas-powered generator.”
Am I the only one that is wondering if there will be an aftermarket fuel cell to boost range even more without refueling?
I don’t think we know the tank capacity yet, but I’m guessing 5 gallons based on the rear mounted Jerry can they showed at CES.
That is the biggest debate for me as well. I’m leaning toward bench for the nostalgia and so my dog can lay down next to me, but I haven’t been able to decide which is more important. Seat comfort is a factor as well. The m not sure if the bench seat will offer the same comfort on long drives...
I’ve watched several videos from CES, but this one included several details I had not heard before. For example, the strap in the door that goes from the speaker across the bottle storage is meant to represent the water fording depth it is capable of. Or that the pull out tray for the front...
My son works sales at a Chevrolet dealership when not in school. I’m going to get my fix by test driving the Silverado RST EV today. First time driving a car with 24” factory wheels, that’s for sure ?
I feel you! We are a family of 4, 2 kids in college, so everyone “needs” a car, and I have a Miata as our extra fun car. My wife is next in line for a car as her 2012 Honda Pilot is getting along in miles and years. I figure I will be just about done paying for college by the time the Scout is...
As a consumer excited about the brand and my pre-order, if something better comes along between now when I’m locked into the Scout, I’m all for it and would likely cancel my reservation. Better is subjective in this case, meaning better to me. That is a tall order as of today.
Kudos to Scout...
It’s a wait and see decision for me for all the reasons mentioned already + final delivered price. I’m leaning toward finance because I want to feel free to mod as I see fit (while keeping warranty in mind). But if lease ends up being more attractive and residual seems okay, that’s an option too.
Technology is changing that, although not overnight. The ability to customize is getting easier, so who knows what we may see. The good news is this is a brand new facility, so hopefully state-of-the-art.
Scout Motors VP of design Dwayne Jackson confirmed to me on Instagram today that the bench seat will have a folding center section when the seat isn’t occupied, and that folding center section will have cup holders and an arm rest. Good news.
Hello there. I reserved a Terra model with the harvester option on Feb 1. This will be my first EV. My current daily driver is currently a 2014 Tundra, and I drive a 2012 special edition Mazda Miata for fun. I like the idea of having an electric truck as a daily driver, but I wasn’t happy with...
