Vehicles look nice. So nice I'm concerned I won't want to pay for them after I option them how I want.

I asked if there was any more info on the Harvester and the guy I asked just said they were still working on it.

Box on the back of the traveller is a cooler, they told me. They weren't allowing people to touch the vehicles.

I like the proportions of the Terra much better in person than in photos. That was my biggest surprise.

They had a few old Scouts there and a bunch of heritage stuff that made me wonder who it was for. People who had Scouts in their lives before are already in. Not sure if anyone is buying in because of heritage they weren't a part of but seems cool to them.

Biggest take away was like I said... They are super nice. Rivian level. And looking at the old ones, I just wish the modern example had less of the Mickey mouse stuff and was just a simple, honest, tough EV (Slate?) that I don't care when my kids trash it and break stuff on it. Makes it hard to see living with it when I'd just be terrified to damage my, say, $70,000 truck...

Don't know who would actually be willing to utilize the off road capability in this truck knowing you're subjecting it to damage.

I'm just not sure I get it.

Just my Bronco
Plenty of folks will spend $60-70K on a Jeep, then proceed to add another $10K in accessories and aftermarket goodies for the sole purpose of off-roading.
Sure, the Scout looks more premium, but it’s not projected to be priced wildly different than what Broncos and Jeeps are going for.
I guess it all comes down to the mental gymnastics we do to rationalize the pinstripes and trail rash.

Can you tell me what vehicle the Traveler would compare to in overall size? I had a 2 dr Bronco Sasquatch then traded to a 2024 Tesla Model 3. I drive roughly 70-100 miles daily so that was my reason for going EV.

Hard to say just looking at it but they are big and tall. I could be totally wrong but seemed like a Tahoe but slightly wider, slightly shorter, and taller.

I got to see them yesterday too. They look great in photos but so much better in person. For me, they seem so much more substantial than the Rivians. I’ve been toying with pulling the trigger on an R1S, but now I’m feeling better about waiting for the Traveler.

The Jeep Recon is at the LA Auto Show. It was nice to get a feel for it and sit inside it. It’s pretty slick, but noticeably smaller. The Traveler definitely seems higher up, and also much more substantial. The 230 miles of range on the Recon is also a hard pill to swallow, especially as it is meant to go off road.

I asked about the front headrests in the Scouts being removable was told that this will likely be the case In production models. This is important to me because I surf and need to be able to fit a variety of sizes of surfboard inside the vehicle. Seems promising!

Side note: you do not need to enter the auto show to visit the Scout display. It’s outside the convention center and free to visit (aside from parking).

After sneaking a peek at the LA Auto Show, I will say I'm impressed. Both vehicles are beautiful and both colors look way better in person than in photos. Couldn't get any addition information regarding either that hasn't already been reported. Wish they let you sit in them, but I understand these are clearly prototypes and not the final product. Tried to look underneath from the rear of the SUV model, but couldn't really see anything.

All in all, I'm still in 100%, although I don't know if I can wait this out before upgrading my towing needs and currently neither EREV meet my needs. Hoping that will change.

Being a "round body" Travelall guy, I'm looking forward to the possible addition of a Travelall model down the road. The old ones are so functional and just fun to drive up and down the California coast, as well as, in the Sierras. With the cool electric tailgate rear window that gives you that hardtop convertible feel, to the ability to put a stack of 4x8 plywood inside with the tailgate shut.

NOTE: The new smaller Rivian SUV has an electric rear window, but if I recall correctly it is within a hatchback liftgate, not a tailgate. They claimed this new smaller SUV is targeting the $40K price. It didn't have the same range as the current larger $70K(?) model though.

NOTE: Also the new Jeep EV off-roader did look very nice in person, but I believe the range is a killer on that one. Their rootbeer colored Grand Cherokee at the show was gorgeous inside and out. I believe is was one of their Summit trim levels. They are now offering something they call the "2.0L Hurricane 4 Turbo" and claim it still has the 6,200lb tow rating and a 21/27mpg rating. That seems like a stretch for a 2.0L 4-banger, but who knows?

Lastly, I spent a little time talking to an experienced gentleman at the Jeep display from Michigan. Asked about their EREV V6 Generator Pickup (it wasn't their - last year they had the chassis with full driveline). He seemed to think the current changing ICE, Diesel, Hybrid & EV environment is very difficult to plan release dates in. The direction of the transportation industry seems to be in flux with the change in administration. As far as release dates, corporate still says 2026, but it appears the timing will be dependent on many factors including the economy.

The measurements are on the site so you can compare them easily to a vehicle you have or know.
